“A taser is an electroshock weapon that uses electrical current to disrupt voluntary control of muscles causing ‘neuromuscular incapacitation.’ Someone struck by a taser experiences stimulation of his or her sensory nerves and motor nerves, resulting in strong involuntary muscle contractions. Tasers do not rely only on pain compliance, except when used in Drive Stun mode, and are thus preferred by some law enforcement over non-taser stun guns.”
Tasers were first invented back in 1969 by a NASA researcher. He named it after his childhood hero Tom Swift the acronym stands for Thomas A Swift Electronic Rifle.
Tasers were first used as a nonlethal weapon by law enforcement officers to subdue fleeing or belligerent subjects who would have otherwise been subjected to more lethal weapons such as a firearm. In study after study, tasers have been shown to save lives, both of law enforcement officers and suspects.
The agency that has control over firearms, the ATF, has said that the air taser is not a firearm. Over the years, Taser international, the developer of the gun, has made advances in technology to improve the device. In 1999 they developed the advanced Taser that uses neuromuscular incapacitation technology. In 2003, they introduced the X 26C that uses “shaped pulse technology” and in 2009 they introduced X3 that can fire three shots before it must be reloaded.
The Taser fires two dart like electrodes, for civilians up to 15 feet away, for law enforcement nearly 35 feet. The barbs are designed to penetrate clothing and prevent removal once in place. The new shaped pulse technology interrupts the ability of the brain to control the muscles creating an immediate and unavoidable incapacitation that has been proven time and time again to be nearly 100% effective.
The range of the Taser allows the user to defend himself in a nonlethal manner from a safer distance than most other self-defense products.
Further proof of the effectiveness of Taser Guns is the fact that nearly 17,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States alone carry and use them as their primary nonlethal weapon of choice.
So the main reasons tasers are so good is their effectiveness at nearly 100% in test after test against all kinds of subjects; their range, which at 15 feet is longer than just about any self-defense product, except some pepper sprays.
Tasers today represent the most effective nonlethal self-defense product you can get. The C2 Taser which was designed specifically for women is the perfect product for them to carry in their purses for self-defense in just about any situation.
