What is OC Spray?
OC spray, often referred to as pepper spray or mace spray, is a non-lethal personal defense weapon that uses the active ingredient Oleoresin Capsicum. This chemical compound is derived from hot peppers and is known for its intense burning sensation when it comes in contact with skin and mucous membranes. How does OC Spray work?
When sprayed into the eyes and face of an attacker, OC spray causes the blood vessels and mucous membranes to swell, making it difficult for them to see and breathe. This intense discomfort can last up to an hour, giving the victim enough time to escape or seek help. OC spray also causes temporary blindness, which can disorientate the attacker and give the victim a chance to flee.
